Board Certified Behavior Analyst
Sophie McKenzie, MEd, BCBA, is a board-certified behavior analyst (BCBA). She received her master’s in Special Education with an emphasis on Autism Spectrum Disorder from the University of Georgia. Sophie completed her practicum serving as an intern in a classroom setting to contribute to and support the Collaborative Personnel Preparation in Autism (COPPA) project at the University of Georgia. She received her bachelor’s degree in Adapted Curriculum Special Education from the University of Georgia, where she also completed the required coursework and practicum to become a board-certified assistant behavior analyst (BCaBA).
Sophie currently serves as a case manager in the Language and Learning Program at Marcus Autism Center. In this role, she provides services within the Intensive Outpatient Program by developing and managing cases with minimally verbal clients. Sophie has extensive experience within the school setting, as she worked to bring principles of applied behavior analysis into the classroom as both a paraprofessional and teacher of a self-contained classroom. She has provided services to individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), developmental delays, intellectual disability and a variety of other co-occurring disabilities. Sophie is passionate about helping ensure clients develop their voices, whether it be vocally, using a speech generating device (SGD), picture exchange or other means.
