This eight-session clinical service aims to reduce stress commonly experienced by caregivers of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
Using Cognitively Based Compassion Training (CBCT®), a mindfulness and compassion training program developed at Emory University, caregivers will learn practical skills for self- and social-regulation. This course is led by Samuel Fernandez-Carriba, PhD, a licensed bilingual clinical psychologist with expertise in developmental disabilities and certified in CBCT.
The program consists of two sections of four weekly sessions. Each session will include instruction, group discussion, a 30-minute period of guided meditation and at-home assignments. Participants who enroll in Part 1 (English or Spanish) will be invited to register for Part 2.
