We offer two summer camp options: a three-week social skills camp and a week-long sleepaway camp for individuals with autism or other related disorders. Details below will help you to make an informed decision as to which camp option is best for your child.

Social Skills Day Camp

Camp You B You day camp offers social skills building within an inclusive setting for children ages 5-12 with autism and related disorders who present with moderate to high functioning skills. The focus of social skill instruction will be to encourage participation and foster social interactions with peers while having fun and getting a true camp experience. Campers will have the opportunity to learn and practice these skills in a supportive environment while playing interactive ball games, swimming, and going on field trips alongside their peers.

June 4 – 22, 2018 (Monday – Friday)

This is a three-week camp experience. All accepted campers must be registered for all three weeks (no exceptions).

Registration applications for Day Camp are now open. Please download and complete the application located here.

Applications will be accepted until all slots are filled.

Please complete the application and submit to Michelle Denney. Slots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.  Applications will be reviewed as received. Once the application is reviewed, caregivers will be contacted to complete a phone screen and to schedule an in-person intake. Caregivers will be notified as soon as the registration process for their child is complete.

Sleepaway Camp

Camp You B You sleepaway camp is a week-long camp for children ages 8-16 with autism or related disorders who present moderate to high functioning skills. There are two programs:

General Camp (ages 8-13)

General camp is for children ages 8-13 who are able to function with an 8:1 camper to adult ratio. Instruction across the course of the week will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Independent hygiene routines and life skills (clothing management, sleep routines, getting ready for daily routines, etc.)
  • Social skills practice, participating in activities with others, having reciprocal conversations on self-selected and non-self-selected conversation topics, taking turns, sportsmanship/losing games, encouraging peers, asking for help, etc.

Specialty Camp: Leaders in Training (ages 14-16)

The Leaders in Training (LIT) specialty camp offers a unique opportunity designed to teach beginning leadership training skills. Instruction across the course of the week will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Assisting camp counselors with group management of younger campers
  • Facilitating beginning social skills among other campers
  • Assisting younger campers with participation in challenging activities
  • Acting as a role model for younger campers

Registration for sleepaway camp will open February 12th at 9:00 a.m. and will close on April 1, 2018. Please complete the online application. The application review process may include a caregiver phone screen and an in-person intake interview. Caregivers will be notified regarding acceptance by April 9, 2018.

Meet Max

Max Brewer was diagnosed with a mild form of autism when he was 3. His older brother, Arthur, also has autism and completed the Marcus Autism Center Early Intervention Program. “We had seen such great progress with Arthur, so we knew that we needed to start Max in the program, too,” Max’s mother, Therese, said.
